The Ride of Your Life
It happens around this time each year but is focused on what’s happening all the time. More than ever you take to the roads, enlivening the spirits of the regulars. Some break from your normal routines to join in. For others, it brings added meaning to what you do throughout the year at home, at work or on the road.
The ride of your life is about doing what you can do so that others have a chance to do more of what they do. And while the ride and rider are central to what makes it possible, you are really the engine that funds the search for solutions.
Riders doing rides to raise money for cancer, heart disease, diabetes, multiple sclerosis, birth defects, Alzheimer’s, autism, ALS, AIDs, Parkinson’s, hunger, homelessness, education and any number of community service groups.
It is a statement of what cyclists can do that has nothing to do with your gear, power, speed, place or anything else that we often focus on during the year. It is a way for many recreational riders and non cyclists to embrace cycling in a way they may never have before. It is a way that makes cycling a community, brings cycling into the community and communities to cycling.
I salute and support you for making the rides of your lives and for all the life it brings to cycling and those around you.
